1. Being on Time
Why is it important to be on time? It shows respect for people as well as yourself. If you are always late, it could give the impression that you not value the other person’s time or consider your time more important. Time is the one thing none of us can get back, use it wisely.
2. Work Ethic
A strong work ethic is vital to keep a business functioning at its peak. Work ethic includes Honesty & Integrity, Responsibility, Discipline, Quality of work, Teamwork, Self-Motivation and a Positive Attitude.
One always has a choice, you can either do the minimum requirement or you can make the effort. If you are not willing to put in the effort, don’t expect it in return.
4. Body Language
Body Language is a type of non-verbal communication in which physical behaviour is used to express oneself. Understanding body language can lead to closer and better relationships both personal and in business.
How to make a good impression through your body language:
- When meeting someone shake their hand firmly, this sends a message of confidence. Don’t squeeze the life out of the person’s hand ether as no one is impressed with a sore hand afterwards
- Maintain an appropriate amount of eye contact. (This may vary in different cultures, when you know you are meeting someone from a different culture to you, make sure you gain some knowledge about acceptable eye contact)
- Keep posture relaxed, but not slouched.
- Keep your arms uncrossed.
Have you ever felt exhausted and drained after spending time with someone or the opposite, energized and exhilarated? People have different energies, some act as energy vampires and some uplift and energize you. Be aware of your own energy you are sending out and stay away from energy vampires as far as possible.
The way you feel about someone or something. Start each and every day with a Grateful Heart and a Positive Attitude.
Passion is a life skill; it helps bring vitality to all your engagements from work/business, family and school life, to social, creative, health and spiritual life.
Passion can easily be lost due to boredom, stress, fear and routine. Passion breeds passion and disinterest breeds disinterest.
8. Being teachable
You must ALWAYS be teachable, no matter how much you think you know. If you are not teachable, you are not growing. Always remain, humble, teachable and coach-able.
We have two ears and one mouth, use it appropriately! Most people formulate their response whilst the other person is still talking, become aware of this and really listen to someone because genuine listening has become a rare gift. When you really listen to someone it helps build relationships, solve problems, ensure understanding, resolve conflicts and improve accuracy. Keep an open mind and listen without judging.
10. Be Grateful & Show Appreciation
If you count your blessings and are grateful for everyone and everything in your life, you will get more to be grateful for. This is a simple principle, yet it has the power to change your world.
Tips on how to be more Grateful:
- Say “Thank You” and mean it
- Write “Thank You” notes
- Give a gift that counts
